Agri Activities

Primary objective of our agri activity is to “making the soil live”. Idea is not to use any harmful and artificial chemical that may hamper the quality even though it led to higher yields. Our vision is to attain long-term sustainability. We have built an end-to-end ecosystem wherein there is no wastage, and the entire food-chain is natural.

Dairy

This is the backbone for the organic approach to the agricultural practices. Our dairy livestock focused on Indian breeds like Gir, Sahibal and Rathi. A2 milk produced through these cows are used for preparation of vedic ghee and other milk-based value added products. Also, we cater to Gir cow milk to our customers.

We are focusing on genetic improvements of our livestock through selective-breeding approach. The new generation of calves are having high genetic merits to improvise milk production as well as qualitative improvements.

Cow dung and cow urine (Gow Mutra) are the most important dairy products those are used for agri activities like farming and fisheries as well as supply to our customers. Cow dung is being used as raw material for biogas and biogas slurry is further used as input for vermicomposting.

Biogas

  • Biogas generated is used in different in-house activities. These activities include cooking and food processing like value addition to milk, fruits and vegetables.

Vermicompost

  • Vermicompost being the best available bio-manure that improves the living conditions of soil as well as enhance the productivity and growth of crops. The biogas slurry along with other organic waste matter like dried leaves and farm residues are used as raw materials for vermicompost. Vermicompost is used for farming activities and also marketed as a manure.

Cowshed Wash

  • Cowshed wash consists of cow urine and wastewater from washing and drinking activities in the cowshed. This nutrient rich solution is collected in a tank and pumped into agricultural field and fishery tanks.

Goat

Our goats are of indigenous breed and grown naturally, free from any chemical or booster treatment. Barbari and Beetle goats are reared along with Mandya and Ganjam breed of sheep. They feed on Smart Napier grass and foliage fodder.

Poultry

Indian breeds like Kadaknath, Koraput and native breeds are raised in a free-range manner without any commercial feed input. They feed on spillovers from other livestocks as well as undigested feed in cow dungs. Most importantly they feed on Ticks and other acto-parasites impacting the health of the livestock. They also help us in controlling the pests’ insects that hamper the growth of other plants.

Fisheries

We at Utkarsh Nature Village cultivate freshwater fish in four large ponds that are developed in our facility in a way that helps in rainwater harvesting also. Different ponds are being utilized to farm different varieties of fishes like Roopchand, Pangas, Ruhi and Catla. The cowshed wash-water is pumped into the ponds to develop zooplankton and phytoplankton that becomes the food for the fishes. Just like our poultry, here also we do not use any commercial feed for the growth of fishes.

Honey

Honeybee farming is done strategically to harvest pure quality honey and above all enhance productivity in different crops through maximizing pollination activities.

Plant Nursery

A huge collection of fruits and ornamental plants are available within the footprint of Utkarsh Nature Village. Propagation of these varieties of plants are done to make availability of seedlings to the visitors.

Floriculture

Rose, tuberose, marigold and jasmine flowers are commercially cultivated to meet the market demands.
